That Radio Thing is a project which has been running over the last year, the aim of the project is to provide opportunities and activities for some of the young people within the Club to gain radio broadcasting skills and build confidence.

The project started as a small project a year and half ago and in the last year has really gained strength and momentum. Past activities have been a short course in basic broadcasting skills held at Bolton Market Radio, interviews with staff and visitors to the Club, in particular Edward Grant who attended the Club as a boy more than 70 years ago and more recently a request show as part of the Hawaiian Valentine's Night.

Basic broadcasting skills such as voice techniques, interviewing skills and using audio equipment such as microphones, recording equipment and editing are just some of the skills members can gain as part of the group.

We link in with other projects within the Club through producing promos and publicising forthcoming activities and showcasing the work the group produces.

As community radio could become a possibility for Bolton it is a great time to be equipping young people with skills that could seem them involved in this exciting medium.

Alanna Rice and Michael Connell lead the group.

Coming up.....

'What Bolton means to me' - personal thoughts on the town we live in.
